Protective Caps for Your Damaged Teeth
What is a Dental Crown?
In essence, a dental crown is a “cap” that restores a damaged tooth. It’s made of enamel-colored ceramic and fully covers the affected area. As a result, placing this cap will protect and beautify your tooth. It’ll keep bacteria away from your tooth’s pulp while also hiding the prior damage.
Given the traits above, an ideal dental crown patient has one (or more) of the following:

The Dental Crown Process
Traditionally, a dental crown treatment takes two dental visits. The first one prepares your tooth for future restoration. In contrast, the second visit delivers and places the crown itself.
Our office will prep you for your crown on the first visit. To be specific, we’ll remove some of the affected tooth’s enamel. (This step ensures the crown will fit well.) We’ll then take a dental impression of the prepped area. This model will be used to make your final restoration. While you wait for the latter, you’ll wear a temporary crown.
When the final crown is ready, you’ll attend the second visit. Our dentists will place the cap at this point. (Never fear, the process shouldn’t hurt. ). Our dental team will then make a few last-minute adjustments to it. Once we’ve confirmed the crown fits, we’ll polish it and let you enjoy your newly-restored tooth.
The Benefits of Getting a Dental Crown
If it isn’t treated, a decayed or damaged tooth causes many long-term issues. A dental crown lets you avoid these problems. In particular, it offers benefits such as:
A Stunning Smile – Unlike other kinds, our dental crowns use tooth-colored materials. They’ll thus blend seamlessly with the rest of your grin. Most people (except your dentist) won’t notice you have one on your tooth.
