Nitrous Oxide Sedation
If you need just a little bit of extra help to relax in the dental chair, nitrous oxide sedation is the perfect choice. Sometimes called “laughing gas,” this form of sedation is the lightest available and can be used to help patients of nearly any age. The colorless and odorless gas is simply inhaled through a small mask placed over the nose. Within moments, you’ll begin to feel light, content, and relaxed. Throughout your treatment, our experienced team will check in with you to ensure your comfort and safety. If needed, we can adjust your level of sedation at any time. Once your procedure is over, we’ll simply remove the mask and the sedation will wear off just as quickly as it came about, allowing you to go about your day as normal right after your appointment.

Anxiety Reducing Medication
For a slightly deeper feeling of relaxation, we may prescribe an anti-anxiety medication to be taken by mouth before your appointment. This can be a particularly helpful option for patients who have mild to moderate dental anxiety or struggle with nervousness before their appointments. With oral conscious sedation, you’ll feel completely at-ease by the time you arrive at our office and will remain so throughout your visit. In fact, you’ll continue to feel relaxed and groggy after your appointment as well, so you’ll need someone to drive you home. While minimally sedated, you’ll remain conscious enough to respond to questions and simple instructions, but you likely won’t remember much of your visit once the medication wears off.
